(2022). <a href=\"https:\/\/physicstoday.scitation.org\/doi\/10.1063\/PT.3.4971\" class=\"ek-link\">Some remarks about Rutherford<\/a>.\u00a0<em>Physics Today<\/em>, 75(4), 10-11.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>I read with interest Melinda Baldwin\u2019s article on Ernest Rutherford\u2019s publication strategies in relation to the journal Nature (Physics Today, May 2021, page 26). She provides an excellent description of how, being in close competition with Pierre Curie and Marie Curie in France, Rutherford was conscious that working in Montreal put him\u2014as he wrote in a letter to Otto Hahn on 6 January 1907\u2014\u201con the periphery of the circle\u201d and made it difficult to publish rapidly in Europe.
